Chronicle of the Traube am See

1800
Origin of the grape on the lake
The Traube am See in Friedrichshafen-Fischbach looks back on over 200 years of history. According to a letter from the Royal Tax Office in Stuttgart dated 12 April 1861, the inn was already listed as a "Bock-Mezig-und-Schankgerechtigkeit und mit einer Tanzlaube" in the estate of the former owner Josef Späth in 1808. A place that has stood for tradition and hospitality from the very beginning.

1900
A new start under the Kessler family
In 1918, Frieda and Bernhard Kessler took over the business and were granted a "business licence to accommodate foreigners". With this permit, the Traube opened its doors not only to locals, but also to travellers. The Kessler family ran the inn through turbulent times until 1962 and played a key role in shaping it.
1962
Era of the Felix family
In 1962, Karl and Sieglinde Felix, a niece of the Kessler family, took over the inn and ushered in a period of change. They focussed entirely on the inn, while the previous farming and butcher's shop were gradually abandoned. Karl Felix, a trained chef, transformed the restaurant into one of the leading culinary addresses on Lake Constance. Through continuous expansion, the inn grew from 8 rooms to a renowned 4-star hotel with 112 rooms.
1990s + 2000s
Transition to the next generation
In 1994, Sabine, daughter of Karl and Sieglinde Felix, and her husband Sebastian Nölke-Damms took over the restaurant and have been running it with great commitment and dedication ever since. In 2002, Uwe, son of Karl and Sieglinde Felix, joined the hotel business. He took over the management in 2005. The hotel has continued to develop and now delights guests with a comprehensive range of leisure activities and modern facilities.
